Try almond butter on toast, spread on slices of apple (great snack), add to smoothies or your autumn porridge

This is super easy to make, just 3 simple ingredients (no additives, perservatives or palm oil here!)

200g  almonds (unsalted skins on)
Drizzle of olive oil
Pinch of sea salt

  •  1. Spread the almonds over a baking tray, place in a preheated oven (200 degrees) for 10mins or until the almonds are lightly toasted. (Test by cutting one almond and the centre should be a very light brown)

  • 2. Let the almonds cool for 15 minutes and then add to blender and blitz. This will take a while for the oil to be realised, it will start as ground almonds but keep blending until the oils come out of the nuts and peanut butter consistency is achieved. Towards the end I added a drizzle of olive oil and a pinch of salt.

  • 3. Store in jar and enjoy!
This is a really simple way of making your own nut butter, I used almonds but you can also try walnuts, cashews, pumpkin seeds or sunflower seeds.

Try almond butter on toast, spread on slices of apple or add to smoothies – it’s a great source of protein, healthy fats and protective anti-oxidants. Almonds are rich in vitamin E, magnesium, calcium, zinc and Vitamin B2. These nutrients can help with maintenance of the immune system, heart health, bone health and healthy skin.
